Paul’s Story

Paul Drechsler has deep roots and a long history of servant leadership in House District 50. Paul is a lifelong local resident, a small business owner, and most importantly, a proud husband and father of four. He is a graduate of Gresham Public Schools who went on to earn his degree from Portland State University.

Paul began his career in the world of retail, commercial banking, and contracting. In 2020, he decided to leave the corporate world and purchase a small business. Paul became the owner of Boring Bark, a small business that sells agricultural and landscaping products, and Boring Bean Coffee Roasters.

Becoming a small business owner just before the COVID Pandemic was a challenge, but Paul was able to grow the business while also showing his heart for community service. When the Pandemic hit, Boring Bean offered free coffee for first responders, an offer that Paul’s business extended to firefighters and PGE workers after wildfires hit our area in fall of 2020. That is just one example of Paul’s commitment to serving our community. He has volunteered with, and supports, several local groups including: Birch Community Services, the Boys and Girls Club, and Oregon Food Bank.

Paul’s desire to serve his community led to nearly a decade of experience working with local government to improve the quality of life and lower the cost of living in Gresham. Paul served on the Board of the Rockwood Business Coalition, as the Chair of the Gresham City Planning and Development Commission, the Chair of the Gresham Redevelopment Commission Budget Committee, and served on the Gresham Redevelopment Advisory Committee. In those roles, Paul was deeply involved in crafting long-term plans for everything from city parks, healthy food access, to ensuring safe routes for kids to school. Paul has been an advocate for protecting Gresham’s growth and economic development. He fought to combat rising rent costs and to ensure our kids can be raised in a safe and prosperous city.

His passion for service, his commitment to fight for a better future for our kids, and the failure of our current leaders to solve the problems facing our communities is what led Paul to decide to run for The Oregon House of Representatives. More than ever, we need leaders in Salem who will put people above politics. We need leaders like Paul who will rise above the current partisan divide and focus on delivering common sense solutions. With his record of servant leadership, his experience in economic development, and his insight as a father and successful small business owner, Paul Drechsler is the best choice for House District 50.
